Time to Relax!!

Take a deep breath in, let it out. That felt so great! I actually have time to relax, kick my feet up, and do what I've been wanting to do for the longest, unwind. I bought a puzzle in December to help keep me clam and relaxed, but I haven't payed it any attention because of being so busy. I said that this year I would like to slow down and take it easy by not rushing to do everything all at once, pretty difficult to master right now but I will continue trying. Going to the library and checking out books and movies is something that I used to do at least once a week, so taking a trip there is a must. Time to rejuvenate.!

United We Stand

I am very proud of the efforts being made by the U.S. and rallying countries to aide the unfortunate people effected by the earthquake in Haiti. Even so, it seems that the only time we can come together is in times of tragedy or disaster. Joining with one another to bring relief to the needy is something that we should do regardless of dire circumstances. I was bothered to see the kind of offense the U.N. officers made towards some of the people walking the streets trying to find refuge outside of Port-Au-Prince. I understand taking precautionary measures, but if there is no violence or uproar, do rubber bullets serve as an appropriate measure? Try using a loud speaker and directing the confusion instead of adding fuel to the fire. They need jobs and better living conditions so if they have to travel by foot and walk in the streets to relocate, let them do so without using unnecessary force. Businesses and buildings were reduced to rubble with needed supplies left openly visible to searching eyes. I wouldn't consider trying to enforce the law when most people haven't received supplies which should be distributed evenly to all who were effected. Why fault them for giving in to basic survival instincts, get what you can however you can. If any of us were in the same situation, we would be doing the same thing. The reality is, someone will not get what they need and currently there is no way to track who has received supplies without having organization?

Toys?

Would you buy a baby doll for a little boy to play with or a toy car? Would you purchase a tool set for a little girl or a play kitchen? I know how most people would respond, but if you think about it, when we become adults, there are more responsibilities that pertain to "mom and dad duties" , than what we raise our children to know. I would teach my kids that there is no such things as a man or woman's duty since both should equally bear the load. Men have a mis- perception, thinking that the woman they marry will clean up after them and be the "mom" that they had growing up, don't bet on it. Women expect a man to be Mr. fix-it with things around the house, but that doesn't always happen. Raise your kids to be able to hold their own.The bottom line is both genders should equally share the load.

Hello New Year

As the new year rolls around, we will hear the saying "out with the old and in with the new." Is everything in life really that simple? Making sure we keep those relationships in tact and keep friends close and enemies closer.Picking up the pieces and getting things back in order. Stop living for others and live for you. Often times when we get into relationships, "I" becomes "we" and lose ourselves. Don't be that person this year, instead take what matters to you and make that the priority. If you have dreams remember to dream big and keep your eye on the prize. Make 2010 the year to bust out and live like you are free. Live and love like never before. Do it safely and keep those resolutions at the top of the list.

Gift giving

With the holiday season comes a lot of shopping. I hope this is helping the economy. It takes some thought when it comes to picking the right gift. It depends on how well you know the person, how long you've know them, is this a coworker, all these factors will determine the type of gift you should get them. The gift has to be appropriate for each person. Even with knowing that information, it can still be hard to make a decision. You can never go wrong with candles though. That is one gift that I consider a unisex gift, it can be for a male or female. A gift cards to a favorite restaurant or store would be great gifts also. Clothes are the number one gift that should not be given unless you know the size of the person! My mom can't buy clothes for me because we don't have the same taste and that would be wrong for me to not let her see me wear it at least once. I hope everyone will be pleased with their gifts. Let the season be joyful

Commercialized Christmas

The leaves are turning colors and falling. The temperature is a bit brisk and steadily declining. Every commercial on T.V. is about holiday gift giving and sales, sales, sales. You couldn't ignore the holiday even if you wanted to. I think a lot of people feel obligated to give gifts, but if you can't buy anything, don't. I think Christmas has become too commercialized. What happened to the real reason for the season? What happened to spending time with family and creating new video memories of the holiday. We used to do that every year when I was a kid and now we're all grown up and live in different places. It would be nice to have things back to they were they were, but those memories will always be with me.

What is considered news?

Hello all. I think having a blog is a great tool to voice your opinion about anything you think is worth writing about. I watch the CBS evening news every night and I was enraged to see that Tiger Woods had once again made the headlines. The evening news should consist of world issues or things that reflect the general population. Leave the celebrity gossip and their mishaps to Entertainment Tonight or TMZ. That's why we have certain shows or programs to cover certain topics and people.
